I had the strawberry shortcake (nut free) and it was delectable. The cream was perfectly sweet and fluffy, the strawberries were nice and juicy and the cake was spongy and flavorful though a little dry. I loved the setting. It was really calm and soothing and the location was excellent, just inside the state street market so I could get dinner and an awesome dessert! I would 100% recommend this to anyone who wants a sweet but not too sweet treat. Tastes just like in Japan!

I bought a piece of strawberry short cake. The cream is not sweet and sponge part is very moist and delicious. Shop assistant is friendly , she told me that the kabocha cheese cake is the most popular. I will try it next time. They have onigiri too ( Japanese rice ball ). Updated : They are moving soon , will be in Santa Clara / Milpitas La casa Mia

Best pastries I have ever had. Bought three different kinds and the people I shared them with loved them all! I recommend to everyone I meet and would go back in a heartbeat!!

This small dessert spot is located in a food court in downtown Los Altos. I got their matcha tiramisu and strawberry shortcake and both were so delicious! The tiramisu had a mild matcha flavor and was just the right amount of sweetness. The strawberry shortcake was airy and light. I really liked the cream; it was soft and not too sweet. Their service was friendly and quick! The food court was spacious and there were plenty of open seats available.

All the dessert here were not overly sweet, the perfect balance of sweetness. The best thing we had was the sweet potato mochi bread! The basque cheesecake was the best among the cakes and was quite moist. Everything we tasted was decent and worth trying but the sweet potato was by far the best!

What a cute little dessert place! Had the pleasure of grabbing dessert here and it was delicious! They have varieties but I chose both matcha tiramisu and strawberry shortcake. While I enjoy the matcha, I find that the strawberry shortcake was the best one yet! It was so light and airy! The strawberries were fresh and sweet! Really enjoyed every bite! I noticed they would have different selections which is nice knowing they don't always have the same thing! The cashier was nice and friendly! Definitely try this place if you haven't!

We made sure to try every pastry that Yelp recommended for our first time at Ikuka. This included the pumpkin mochi bread (which even looks like a pumpkin), the chestnut cake, kabocha cheesecake, and a chocolate banana cake. Ikuka is also nestled inside State Street Market so you can enjoy the fresh baked goods right there. My personal favorite has to be the choco banana tart, the rich chocolate perfectly complements the banana and it wasn't overly sweet. A close second was the pumpkin mochi bread which was so pillowy you could legit sleep on it. All the cakes just looked too good to eat! Would come again to try the rest of their offerings!

Their selection of cakes are decadent! If you're ever in the area, definitely give them a try. My family and I have tried: Strawberry Shortcake 4/5 Kabocha Pumpkin Burnt Basque Cheesecake 4.5/5 Choco Banana Tart 4/5 We have also gifted these to extended family and they also love them!

Ikuka is a charming little Japanese bakery tucked inside a bustling food hall, and it offers some unique and delightful items. I tried the kabocha squash Basque cheesecake, and it was quite good. The cheesecake was creamy and dense, yet not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. It had some squash chunks that added a nice texture, though I wished there were more candied nuts to balance the flavors. I was also pleasantly surprised to see they had tuna onigiri, which looked delicious. I'm definitely planning to come back and try other items from their intriguing menu. Overall, Ikuka is a gem for anyone looking to explore unique Japanese bakery treats!

Ikuka serves really well crafted desserts that you can taste the effort, idea, and craftsmenship in each and every bite. What you are eating really comes down to uniqueness in melding flavors while holding onto traditions like techniques. So, which some of the desserts made at Ikuka are done extremely well and captures your delightful indulgence in such baked decadence, others are more avant-garde in attempts to push our understandings and perceptions of desserts. Then, why you make ask, only 4-stars? Because simply put, some avant-garde pieces of dessert simply don't seem to work while others have flavors that need some more balance. What we ordered, 4 desserts: - Strawberry Short Cake - Kabocha Bask Cheese Cake - Choca Banana Tart - Matcha Tiramisu Of those 4, the Strawberry Short Cake and Matcha Tiramisu were splendid. The Strawberry Short Cake, every bit as you'd expect with hints of creamy sweetness awash over the strawberry chunks. And for me, anything Matcha, you need that green tea bitterness and it comes out splendidly in the Matcha Tiramisu. Both were outstanding. However, the Kabocha Bask Cheese Cake and Choca Banana Tart fell a vital short for me. The Kabocha Bask Cheese Cake is an amazing concept. The cheesecake aspect of it was done superbly well. It was the integration of the Kabocha (pumpkin) that brought down the overall cheesecake for me. The Choca Banana Tart, a classic concept that should work, but the execution didn't work for me. The chocolate was a rich, hearty, and thick ganache like texture but the banana, along with the cream, are soft and cloud like. You merge the two together and those two textures do not like to play together very well. Overall, I am a fan of Ikuka and the lovely desserts it designs and creates--even at those prices. But for me, some combinations just don't work.
